What if I forgot to lock the door and someone gets hurt?
What if I am contaminated and I don't know it?
What if I make a mistake and lose everything?
What if this isn't really OCD and I tricked everyone around me?
What if I don't really love my partner?

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
There are so many “what if” thoughts that go through your brain. You’ll do anything to avoid your thoughts and to prove that you wouldn’t do those things. So you ask for reassurance, you do your best to avoid what reminds you of the thoughts, you tap, clean, ruminate, check, google… you create rituals to get some relief. Some of the behaviors feel related to the thoughts and others don’t but doing the rituals helps for a while. But then you notice that you have to do more to avoid your thoughts and get that temporary relief. Your life keeps getting smaller and smaller and the urge to escape your thoughts becomes stronger and louder.
You can’t logic your way out of OCD, but you can learn skills that help you regain your life, quiet your brain, and learn how to relate differently to your thoughts. Through ERP, Mindfulness, Self Compassion work, and ACT, I help you get some distance from your thoughts and reclaim your life.
